The wife may be playing hooky this Thursday from work so we were thinking of going down to Cooper Creek, which is near Clinton, Mo. I know for some of you that is a bit far to drive. This will be our first trip down there so we're pretty excited to go and try new trails. If anyone has visited that area and can give us some tips on the area, we would sure appreciate it. Or even better if anyone wants to come join us (assuming she goes through with playing hooky) and show us the ropes that would be even better! Either way, we'll post pictures of our outing if we go.

Not sure yet, but we will let you know for sure. I have a dentist appointment Thursday morning so a lot of it depends on if the wife is going to take off work or not, we might just go early Friday. I'll keep you informed.

LOL, she wants to play hooky because work pissed her off, so we're going to leave tomorrow evening and head down to my mother-in-laws for the night. She lives in Galmy, Mo. We won't have internet connection down there as the population is like 55 residents, unless her neighbors got wifi recently. Is there a number we can reach you at when we are down there we'll setup a time Thursday to meet. From her house to the ORV area it's only about a 45 min drive, according to my MS Streets and Map. Anything extra you recommend taking to this trail? Any tips or hints you can give us about the area before we pack up for it?

take a water pack, they don't allow coolers in the park. You can leave them in your vehicle, but you cant take them in the park on your quad. & take TP in case you have an accident. & food, unless you wanna drive 15min inot town

Had a good time out there. Had some issues when we first pulled up. My '01 Sportsman was transported with the fuel pet off (for safety), so when we arrived I turned the fuel on and tried starting it as normal. Nothing, didn't kick over. Tried it again, same thing. Then I started smelling fuel, so I looked under the quad to see a STREAM of fuel leaking from under it. This is all happening in the bed of my pickup truck mind you. So I start freaking out a little. I decided to roll the beast off the bed of the truck so that I could look into the problem with a little more detail (PRAYING that I would find the cure as it would be a bitch to get it back up in the bed if it didn't start). Well, come to find out there was fuel in the air filter box that needed cleaned out, after I cleaned it out and allowed the gas to evaporate out of the filter, it started right up! Not sure what happened, only thing I can think of is that during the trip and the sloshing around of the gas, pressure built up with the fuel turned off and it back flowed into the air box. There must had been some more pressure in the overflow tube and that was what was leaking out when I turned the fuel on. Kind of weird. Anyway, went out and met a guy out there that was out with his kids. He showed us around the park until his quad got stuck in about 28" of water. My quad and my wife's quad went right through it, but his died on him right in the middle. Ended up having to TOW him all the way back to the parking lot. Mind you he had a Yamaha Grizzly 660 and he was not a small guy. Probably 275# EASY with 2 young boys with him. My little 500 HO pulled him through mud, water up hills with -0- problems. Just really glad I had my tow strap with us! We have some pictures of the water we all went through that I'll post later. After we got him back to the truck and made sure he was all good (ended up there was a bunch of water in his muffler that was causing it not to start) my wife and I went back out for a little while longer. Well towards the end of our ride I noticed my steering becoming "loose" but I didn't think anything of it till I went through some BIG mud and got stuck. Well as normal I tried rocking the quad back and forth by lifting up on the handle bars, then all of a sudden the handle bars came up about 2" but the quad didn't move. Felt like my steering rod had broke loose. Well I got out of the mud and checked the steering column, all was good. I barely made it back to the truck. Started reading the service manual and it looks like I may have broken off a bolt. I'm going to take a harder look at it later this week when I have more time. But from the looks of it, since it's not in the column, seems to be an easy fix (hopefully). So it was an exciting, frustrating, fun, muddy day! At least we made it out and it gave me a new project to work on! We stayed with my mother-in-law down by Pom-de-Terr lake so it was a all-around good weekend for us!

Here are a few pictures of us out there. The first ones are of my wife going through that really deep water in her "baby" quad. She did so good, I was really impressed with her! Then we stopped for a few photos by the lake. Not sure what is up with her jacket, but it makes her look big. She's pretty petite. All in all it was a good day out!

Well I put my request in today, I'll find out next week if it gets approved. Was thinking of spending the night at PBC Friday, maybe coming down that evening to chat up with some of you guys and then be there early Saturday if you all need help with anything!
