I've got one that's about 5-7 years old, thought it was about time to upgrade. There's a TON of different brands to choose from! Any suggestions? I'm not a Fancy Pants photographer, just something to snap shots and go.

I like the Nikon's. I myself shoot all my pics with a Nikon coolpix L22. 11 megapixel. Megapixel is what you need to look for the higher the number the better quality photo. I like the smaller ones for throwing in your pocket or bag, and going.

I had a Kodak, never had any problems, other than getting sand in the lens when out at Waynoka. I picked up a Nikon this morning, seems pretty good, but hard to get used to these little cameras!

Slippery.. You can try like hell to keep th sand out but it won't work. Ask my girlfriend about cameras and she'll tell you how hard I am on them. I'm on #3 this year, little dirt, broken cases, water. But hey some of the best pics are in the worst places

Megapixels relate to the size of the Picture when blown up. If you plan on 5x7 or less, a 5 MP will cut it. The big thing on a Digital camera is it's MACRO quality. MACRO is intense close up without zoom. If it has good MACRO, the rest is moot. Since you bought a new one, this post is moot '
